Built in 1863 by Jean Aitkin Carlyle (Thomas Carlyle’s sister), this large sandstone house offers the ideal non smoking location to discover the delights of Dumfries and Southwest Scotland. A friendly and courteous service awaits you, making it the ideal place to visit Scotland. The house has been completely refurbished and benefits from double glazing, central heating, free WiFi internet connection and a large car park with separate motorbike parking. We are strictly Non-smoking.
Terry and Lynne Hawkins are the new proprietors of this family owned hotel. We guarantee a warm friendly welcome and we aim to establish this hotel as a 'home from home' for our regular and casual visitors. We pride ourselves on offering the highest standard of service and cleanliness. The hotel has undergone an extensive refurbishment and we are sure our guests will enjoy the warm and comfortable surroundings. The hotel is 150 meters from Dumfries Railway Station and a 5 minute walk from Dumfries town centre. There is ample parking for cars and coaches and a beer garden in the grounds of the hotel where guests can relax. The Huntingdon House is an outstanding base both for the businessman who is within easy reach of the commercial heart of Dumfries, and for the tourist discovering the delights of Dumfries and Galloway with its many golf courses and tourist attractions. Cycling & Mountain Biking Motorcycling Knockhill Racetrack and Croft Circuit are only 1 1/2 hours from Dumfries (about 85 miles) so it's a good stepping stone for the BSB, club racing or track days.
